Eggheads

One of my favourite things about living in a new country is all of the new pop culture.  There are new B & C list celebrities to learn and new junk TV to watch.
Eggheads is a quiz show that airs every weekday at 6PM.  It's probably the equivalent of Jeopardy in the US... but better.

It's a format that they probably would never use in America.  The panel of "Eggheads" are not very glamorous- ok maybe CJ and Judith, but the others are not exactly the stuff of US TV stardom.  That is part of what makes it so much fun to watch.  The awkward nerdiness of the guys.  Daphne quietly cheering on the opponents in her sweet way.  The pace is slower and there are zero special effects.

I chalk The Eggheads up as a cultural "win" for England and I leave you with one of my husbands infamous "jokes"...

I'm not looking forward to the Easter episode of Eggheads... the contestants are just too hollow.

  1. Hello,

My name is Kristen and I am writing to you from an American television show about people buying homes abroad. I came across your blog and I thought I would get in touch to tell you a bit about our program and see if you might be interested in being on our show.

House Hunters International tells the story of people who have picked up their lives and moved to foreign and exotic locations to pursue a new life. Being on our show is a lot of fun for our participants and a great way for them to document their exciting search for a home and new life abroad.

We’re currently looking to cast people who have bought or are currently looking for a home abroad. If you fit this qualification or know anyone who does, I would love to tell you more about the project. You can contact me at househunterscasting@leopardfilms.com.

I look forward to hearing from you!
