WFW: Reception details

It was finally time to party!  We hoped on our trolley with some of our wedding party and family members.

In no time we were in the West End at The Starlight Room.  (Fun Fact:  This venue, now part of Jim Lee Event, used to be the restaurant Planet Hollywood, the location of my 16th birthday party.)

I'll start you out by showing you some of the details our guests experienced when they arrived.
There was a table by the front door which served as a welcoming station of sorts. Guests could drop any cards or presents they'd brought (thankfully only 2 or 3 people gave us physical presents at the wedding as opposed to more easily transportable cards), get their escort card, and sign our guest book.

Across the entry way was a beautiful bar with lovely flowers, provided by the venue.

In the main area, each table was set with layered table cloths, tea lights, favours and either a large or small floral arrangement.

Additionally, each place had a reception program (outlining times of major events at the reception) and a menu (showing the options that would be available at the buffet).

A closer look at the favours and the tags explaining them.

On a wall in the dance area, was a gobo projecting our monogram.  It was a great way to really customize the space.

We included a few sentimental touches in our reception decor.  The stairwell had a ledge that was perfect for displaying photos.  We framed a variety of family wedding pictures and displayed them, lit by tea lights.

Finally, a wall in the reception space featured 5 large frames.  The reception venue printed off pictures that we emailed them and put them on display.  From left to right you'll see Ross' parents cutting their cake, one of our engagement pictures, a bridal portrait, another engagement picture, and my parents cutting their cake.

We wanted to find ways to include family ties, especially with Ross' family, but not in a morbid or obtrusive way.  I'm really happy with the sentimental, but happy balance we were able to strike.  The staff at Jim Lee Events did a great job setting everything up perfectly after minimal instructions from me.
